Tomcat, a Gloucestershire-based manufacturer of bespoke inclusive tricycles to improve people’s independence and mobility, has been awarded a prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise in the category International Trade.

The company is one of 197 organisations nationally to be recognised with a prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise.

Founded in 1998 and employing over 20 staff, Tomcat designs and manufactures custom tricycles for children, teenagers, and adults with disabilities or mobility challenges. The company’s purpose is clear: to create freedom, dignity, and independence through inclusive mobility, helping people experience life on their own terms.

This focus on impact over product alone has driven Tomcat’s growth in the UK and overseas. Since 2022, export revenues have increased by 33 percent, with strong demand from Europe and emerging markets in Canada and Australia. Every trike is designed to meet individual needs, ensuring that mobility is adapted to the rider, not the other way around.

The King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade recognises this success and the company’s commitment to delivering positive social change through engineering excellence.

“This is a really proud moment for us,” said Nazia White, Head of Marketing and Export at Tomcat. “Leading the application process and seeing the company recognised in this way is incredibly meaningful.

“My journey into this industry began through personal experience, and it’s a privilege to now play a part in making tri-cycling more accessible to people around the world. This award feels like a reflection of the purpose that drives us every day — and the people we do it for.”

Tomcat’s innovative trikes are distributed through assessment-led partnerships across the UK and internationally. Every product is designed and built to meet individual needs.

The King’s Awards for Enterprise, previously known as The Queen’s Awards, are now in their 59th year and award are the most prestigious for UK businesses.

Last year, Robert William Frank Griffin, Founder and Managing Director of Tomcat, was awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in recognition of his remarkable contributions to engineering and his unwavering dedication to improving the lives of disabled people.
