Foundations and The Occupational Therapy Service are now offering in-house Trusted DFG Assessor Training for local authorities, home improvement agencies, and housing associations.
This builds on Foundations’ open course dates for Trusted DFG Assessor Training, after which the organisation received lots of enquiries to deliver the training in-house for a large cohort of learners.
Now, to meet demand, Foundations has opened a new enquiry page for councils, home improvement agencies, and housing associations looking to expand their team’s capabilities and deliver training in-house.
The Trusted DFG Assessor Training programme is designed to equip professionals, such as housing officers, technical officers, or grants managers, with the skills and confidence to assess and recommend adaptations effectively.
By assessing straightforward cases like stairlifts, ramps, and accessible bathrooms, Trusted Assessors help reduce waiting times, improve service efficiency, and free up occupational therapists (OTs) to focus on complex cases. The role of a Trusted Assessor is pivotal in streamlining the delivery of home adaptations, ensuring individuals get the support they need as quickly as possible.
Foundations says that running the course in-house is good for organisations that are looking to build capacity, improve services, and have a group of staff who need the same skills.
By running the course in-house, organisations can train housing, technical, or support staff quickly; build local knowledge and confidence; speed up delivery of simple home adaptations; and free up OTs for more complex work.
Delivered by leading experts in the housing sector, the course gives staff the skills to understand the needs of the client and their environment, weigh the risks vs benefits, assess the legislative purposes of the DFG, and be able to decern when to pass cases back for a more complex assessment.
To run the course in-house, organisations will need a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 18 staff who will be assessing for level access showers, stairlifts, and ramps; a suitable training room for group work; and support from management to help embed the learning.
The cost is £9,995 for up to 18 people. This includes all materials, assessments, certification, and trainer travel costs.
Interested organisations should fill out the enquiry form to arrange a time and date for the training.
