Pressure care solutions manufacturer wins King’s Award for Enterprise for supporting clinical practice across the world

Frontier Medical Group, a manufacturer of pressure area care solutions, has been awarded the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade.

Frontier Medical Group is one of 197 organisations across the UK to be recognised with a King’s Award for Enterprise. Announced on 6 May 2025, Frontier Medical Group has gained the accolade in recognition of the company’s short-term growth over the last three years, which saw Frontier’s overseas revenue increase by 70 percent and the company’s overall turnover increase by 30 percent.

Supplying medical technology directly to healthcare suppliers in 34 countries including the USA, Benelux, Germany, Hong Kong and New Zealand, as well as the UK, Frontier Medical Group aims to enhance patient wellbeing and support clinical practice across the world.

With 93 percent of its FY24 revenue protected by a robust portfolio of patents, the company remains at the forefront of pressure area care in the UK and globally, reinvesting in new technologies and developing innovative designs to support patient outcomes.

David Caldwell, Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Receiving the King’s Award for Enterprise reaffirms our commitment to improving patient outcomes through smart, clinically validated design, and it is an honour to receive such a prestigious recognition of the business’s international success.

“Innovation for us is more than technology — it’s about working closely with healthcare providers to create real-world solutions that improve care delivery and quality of life.”

This national recognition celebrates the South Wales-based company’s exceptional commitment to clinically-driven innovation, developed based on 22 years of clinical research, through its flagship Repose and Toto product lines now distributed across the world.

Used in the treatment and prevention of pressure ulcers across all levels of patient risk, the company’s healthcare products are designed to provide transformative solutions in pressure area care, automated patient repositioning, and comfort aids for the home through new brand Enora.

The Repose range has supported more than three million patients globally, offering a cost-effective, efficient, and scalable solution for pressure ulcer prevention and treatment in hospital, care home, and community settings.

The Toto Cradle also played a key part in the company’s growth. A recent extension to the widely adopted Toto Automated Patient Repositioning Platform, the Toto Cradle has been designed in direct consultation with healthcare professionals to minimise patient migration during automated lateral turning. Frontier Medical says this significantly improves outcomes for immobile patients, reducing the burden on the NHS by decreasing the need for double-handed repositioning of patients.
