Abstract:
Bombardments on an urban area are critical and realistic in some parts of the world. To be prepared for thestrikes, planning a massive evacuation is challenging because of complexities in urban geographics anddynamics. If we limit the scope to the evacuation of vehicles on the road topologies, the individual evacuationsof vehicles as well as the damaged network structure of roads creates the complex dynamics of conjestions. We utilize an agent-based model to estimate potential road conjestions and evacuation time to support theevacuation planning. We experimented the scenario by varying the bombing locations and the rerouting probabilities of agents. The virtual experiment results show what would be the most devastating attacks giventhe road topology and the calibrated population distribution in terms of the evacuation time, the number ofdamaged vehicles, and the number of blocked vehicles.
